If you are consider campaigns to research for your MED2 exam, I would recommend Marks and Spencer as a case study. The latest advert, 'Christmas Belles', is an excellent example of pastiche. You can view it at www.marksandspencer.com

PLEEESE, SANTA - Allison Pearson (Daily Mail, 14/11/07, p.15)
The new Marks & Spencer Christmas campaign is a lush, pitchperfect pastiche of classic moments from Hollywood films. It features five Christmas Belles, crowned by Twiggy, who all want the same thing for Christmas, which turns out to be Antonio Banderas. Well, you would, wouldn't you? Antonio Banderas in a tuxedo should come with a health and safety warning: Do not operate heavy machinery or attempt a conversation while staring into the eyes of this Hispanic love god.
The only drawback for M&S is that no female with a pulse is likely to remember any of the party frocks or cashmere jumpers being advertised. I was left confused. In which branch is Senor Banderas available? Can you get him in your stocking? Does he come with a seasonal stuffing? Will they do you Three Antoniooooooohs for the price of Two?
